I am a 26/f. I have been having hair loss for the past 6+months. Doesn't seem normal. When I take a shower, I run my fingers through my hair and 4-5strands come out at a time. I am wondering if it is because I wear my hair up in a ponytail 24/7?! It doesn't run in the family. I want to start taking a good vitamin to see if that is the cause. Any recommendations? Can wearing a normal ponytail cause the loss?
Yes, the ponytail if it is wrapped too tight could cause the hairs to come loose.
Some good vitamins to help with hair loss is B Complex. I take prenatal vitamins even though I have never been pregnant. I checked with my doctor and she said it was ok. I found that to be very helpful for my hair.
I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.

I'm 30 and I cant take the Prenatal Vitamins because Ive never had kids and they say the Prenatal are bad for you if you are not pregnant..

The same thing happened to me. My daughter swears by Tressame anti breakage conditioner which she allows to marinate in her hair during her shower. I just started this a couple of weeks ago and so far no luck for me. As I said it works for her though. Good luck

Hair loss can be thyroid-generated. It can also be caused by stress or the environment.
What you need is a product(s) that helps to lessen the hormone DHT in your body. The herb Saw Palmetto has shown some ability to assist in inhibiting DHT in the body.
Other than this, I would suggest that you check into programs and techniques that are out there for helping stop hair loss:
Natural hair products
Filtered water
Minoxidil 5% for men; 2% for women
Boar-bristle brushes are very gentle on the hair shaft and help spread natural oils on your scalp (which means you shampoo more often).
Ionic Hair Dryers / Brushes (can’t confirm if they work)
Laser Comb (very expensive, and run up to $600, although now they have knock-off discounted laser combs that may not work as effectively). The brand I use is Lexington HairMax.
Hair Transplant (the most expensive treatment out there that works)

My Hair has recently started to fall out, and it is thining a lot! i just found out it is a side affect of my epilepsy medication (topamax)- which is a great medication controlls my epilepsy and makes me all slim and is great for head aches and loads of other things but the only down side is my hair! i cant afford to loose any more hair is their a vitiman i can take or somethin?? anything!!! thanks in advance…. XXX
You will need Vitamin B12 I think, Zinc and a special hair and nails tablets. These are available from Holland & Barrett assuming you are in the UK.
My wife hair was falling out alot when she combed it. The doctor told her to take this tablets as she said she went completely bald but now has a full length hair. I've noticed my wife's hair is not falling out so much now.
